She PUSHED a police officer as he was doing his job. She should be charged with assault and disruption of justice. What she did just now could have killed an officer if the situation was different. What if a police officer was arresting an armed individual, a friend pushed him off, and the individual grabbed a weapon? They are doing just as they were trained.

HEY I remember this case. She wasn’t jaywalking her friend next to her (in the black shirt) was being arrested because people had complained about her behavior (She got in a fight or something or was harassing people nearby?) and this other women (in the pink) wigs out and shouts at the officer. Then she hits him and scratches him several times telling him he “cant take her friend” and that the other party was wrong. He told her to back off about 4 times, other officers tried to remove her from the fiasco (NON violently) then finally he took her down for obstruction of justice. She also got physical with the door in the cell and tried to beat her way out of the cell door window. ROFL morons.
it’s still excessive. where’s back up? Why didn’t he call for any? There’s more he could have done to avoid a physical altercation.
She deserved what she got. It’s called assault on a police officer.
There is a difference between assault and self defense, cops shoot unarmed citizens many times and they don’t stand trial for it and people around here know that.

This large, strong, and supposedly highly skilled and trained officer should have been able to defuse the situation and restrain the (unarmed) woman without resorting to punching her in her face. If this is really the level of response that the Seattle PD considers acceptable, we could dispense with the training altogether, and just hire high school bullies to slug anyone found jaywalking. That would be cheaper and more efficient.

If you hit a cop you get what you get. She was acting aggresively. Sometimes officers cuff people to defuse a situation and to talk to the person. Just becuase you are cuffed and put into a police car dosnt mean your being arrested. But she did deserve to be arrested.

He was not talking to her while she was grabbing him, scratching him, basically ASSAULTING HIM. He did what he had to do to get her off him and protect himself. Kudos officer, I would have done the same!
Okay, I understand that the girl in the pink took the cops hands off of her friend and that people are upset about that. However, the cop punched her in the fucking face. You don’t hit girls in the face. Period. Cops are trained to restrain people who are violent. Punching them in the face is not one of the tactics they are taught. That would be a dangerous situation but there is a proper way to handle that. Punching someone in the face is not part of that protocol. You could simply handcuff the person. They have all sorts of restraining techniques they are taught to get people under control.

The girl the cop punched later apologized. I am 100% against police violence but this video doesn’t show the entire situation. Don’t have links on my phone but this is a case of bad budget cuts affecting a small police force. I am not a cop and haters gonna hate but I urge you in this case to research a little more.
Sean is right, I remember this case very well.(I live in Seattle)I am a biased person against the cops…hate em. But this care the girl that got punched actually put herself between the cop and the girl he was dealing with. She was also interviewed by the news channel…she even admitted she had done the wrong thing and the cop was right to hit her. This is a case of the one percent doing the right thing.
I had an Atlanta cop get in my face for jaywalking in an area that didn’t even have crosswalks.
