A Facebook picture of a Confluence police chief has caused his immediate suspension without pay. The photo shows chief Tom Keller intoxicated and barely able to keep his eyes open, his left arm wrapped around an unidentified woman’s waist and his right arm touching her crotch.
The woman is hugging Keller, posing with a gun in her hand and another gun sticking out of her jeans.
Confluence major Allen Gyorko sympathized with Keller, saying that “In the winter, people get a little, what you call, cabin fever, you know. And they do goofy things.” Still, Keller was put on administrative leave until they figure out the next best step in his case.
Keller doesn’t remember when the picture was taken and claims that someone had hacked his Facebook account in an attempt to embarrass him. He filed a complaint against the unknown hacker who made this photo public. Even though Keller isn’t doing anything illegal in the pic, it certainly doesn’t portray him in a positive light.
There is a line between police officers’ personal and professional life, but their position in the society obliges them to be more aware of their image and the example they’re setting to others.

police isolationism is a topic in chief of police textbooks that chiefs are supposed to prevent along with police brutality [ but they probably never read the book ] the police are never there when you need them all hiding they dont want somebody coming up to them saying how come you did nothing when my cousins house was robbed or when my sister was knocked down on the side walk and robbed its in police textbooks that the police can question everybody in an entire city in AN INVESTIGATION they have been able to do this sinnce the 1930s with index cards now they have special computer software
I’m a big supporter of your work and the important info you expose, but this piece is so sloppy and biased that it does your site a disservice. “Intoxicated”? Where’s the proof? Maybe he was just sleepy after working a double shift, or, more likely, after a night of partying, but unless you can breathalyze him from the pixels, you’re making the same kind of assumptions we’d go after any cop for indulging in.
Similarly, if we want the right to privacy for ourselves, we have to allow it to others, even those we don’t like or trust. “Racy” pics are anyone’s right to post.
What concerns me about this photo is not his bleary-eyed look, or even his clearly visible wedding ring, but whose guns Ms. Hotcha is fooling with: If they’re the chief’s ,*that* would be serious misconduct.
I don’t care what anyone does in their private life if it’s not hypocritical or harming anyone else; I do care that this police chief was stupid enough to think that anything sent or posted electronically could remain secret.
It appears to be a man to me.
